Gumtree launched in the UK as a local classified ads and community site, designed to connect people who were either planning to move, or had just arrived in a new neighbourhood, and needed help getting started with accommodation, employment and meeting new people.
They have expanded since then through word of mouth and have a growing community all around the world. They are a local noticeboard that now spans across 76 cities. Their classifieds websites cater for the local community but also for travelers interested in Stuff for sale, Cars, flat share, flat rentals and jobs.
Their aim is to provide a simple and easy-to-use tool that lets you quickly find what you are looking for.
Downsides : Although slightly evolved in the front page design department, their methods of dealing with customer complaints have lead to a rather average market response in 2014 and most of 2015. They are working towards this problem but mainly display their market dominance through high marketing revenues rather than glowing customer service. Also they do not go above and beyond for their private customers to ensure Ads have a higher conversion rate.Visit the Site to Post
